Hell, Sonos offers a better software interface. Apple’s own Mac software development is showing the world new levels of suckitude. And Apple is doing NOTHING to garner better 3rd party Mac software development. Those of you who think Mac sales are strong because of OS X are missing the hidden reality: well-heeled computer users love tough aluminum laptops, but the vast majority of them rely on Parallels or some other utility to run the Windows programs they need. Tim cares only about iOS software sales, subscription based services, and overpriced connector adapter sales. I don’t think I’m alone in seeing that Apple is totally losing focus of the user. Useful features have been removed, you can’t even color tag files effectively. Intelligent file metadata is long gone, replaced by stupid Windows file extensions. Commands are hidden behind meaningless icons and access is complicated by awkward multi-key commands. What’s worse, as the current GUI designers continue to screw up, functionality suffers. It’s plain, flat, boring, and hard to read. OS X hasn’t been truly beautiful in years. Spotlight with web junk has gotten worse, not better. WiFi flakiness is still not over for some users. Email handling using Apple’s default Mail is a crapshoot. Disk Utility is so far outclassed by 3rd party utilities, it is an embarrassment. Instead of enhancing functions, Apple is dumbing things down. Timid Tim and his minions aren’t putting forth anywhere near that level of effort. So while it is fun to poke at Windows for having a terrible interface, at least Microsuck is expanding the functionality of its OS and, yes, bowing to the backlash from its desktop users. People here used to make fun of Windows for endless bug fixes. I don’t consider bug fix releases to be progress.
